Extreme Saharan rally teams: your choice
#1 - PARIS - DAKAR Mitsubishi Rally Team
Mitsubishi have had an illustrious record in the Paris - Dakar rally. Mitsubishi Montero / Shogun is one of the most successful vehicles ever to compete.
The team is highly professional and well prepared. The cars have been specially built for the race and the mechanics are some of the best on earth. Indeed they even have support trucks with huge sets of spares in case of a component failure.
#2 - Badgermobile
Two idiots, a car they wouldn't trust them to the supermarket, and a budget found down the back of the sofa.
The team are pretty useless to be fair. Spare parts consist of a roll of duct tape and a 12v fridge. Mechanically they are definitely average. They were unable to spot the fact the alternator was knackered.
At a month and a half to go:
- Car doesn't start
- It's done a claimed 220,000 km (equivalent to driving round the earth 5 and a half times.....!)
- At least one Flat Tyre
- Soft-Top is knackered
- According to the Haynes Manual we are missing a few parts from the engine
- Fan belt is knackered
- Headlights don't seem to work
- Stereo only plays tapes
- The entire preparation budget £15 was blown on a flashing skull gearknob.
